Our People

We wondered what it would be like to dedicate an entire mountain, with more ski terrain than Aspen Mountain, to just a dozen families. We pulled together former CEOs, COOs and  premier guides from Colorado’s best known ski resorts — Aspen, Vail, Telluride, Beaver Creek and Crested Butte — to help us re-envision the ideal mountain resort.

Mountain Hosts

Skip Huston

Property Manager

When Skip was CEO of Skip Huston Construction, Inc., he built many of the roads, ponds and other infrastructure at CMC. In his capacity as Property Manager, he is responsible for the upkeep and maintenance of all that, plus machinery, buildings and other facilities at CMC. He is also in charge of CMC’s fleet of snowcats, ski trail and road grooming, and over-snow transportation. He and his wife, Camille, live in the caretaker’s residence at CMC’s entrance.

Clinton Suskey

Snowcat Driver, Mechanic and Property Maintenance

Clint has worked for years for both Skip Huston Construction and CMC, and has proven himself to be multi-talented, reliable and personable.  He can fix just about anything.

Shawna Stephens and Scott Slater

Mountain Hosts

Shawna and Scotty are a husband and wife team who will live in a cabin on the mountain and serve as CMC’s Mountain Hosts. They act as concierges for the club, welcoming members and introducing them to all the recreational opportunities. They will be responsible for the main lodge and special activities and will also serve as fishing, riding, rafting, and hunting guides. They are both excellent cooks and will prepare many of the locally harvested meals served in the lodge.

The two have worked for several years as professional wilderness fishing and rafting guides in Alaska, New Zealand and Colorado. Shawna grew up near CMC and in Hong Kong; Scotty has a background in aquatic ecology/science and hails from Australia. Ms. Stephens is a Registered Nurse, Wilderness EMT and working towards her Fellowship in Wilderness Medicine. Together, they specialize in providing members with safe and authentic outdoor experiences in CMC’s pristine wilderness.

Master Guides

Greg Henzie

Director of Snow Safety and Senior Guide

Greg (also known as “Herc” due to his impressive size) has decades of experience as a professional ski patroller and Snow Safety Director at Telluride Ski Resort and as a guide for Telluride Helitrax. He’s carved more turns in more interesting places than most people who have ever clicked into ski boots. He is also an experienced mountaineer.

Erik Larsen

Ski Patrol and Master Guide

Erik (AKA Deuce) has lived and skied in the San Juan’s for over 20 years. He is currently the Snow Safety Supervisor for Telluride Ski Resort. In addition to patrolling in France and at CMC, he’s been on the Telluride Ski Patrol team for over a decade. Deuce and his faithful Avalanche Rescue Dog, Mona, will keep you safe at CMC, no matter how extreme your skiing.
Kristofer Noel

Ski Patrol and Master Guide

Kristofer grew up skiing and racing in New England before leaving the icy slopes of the North East behind for better opportunities. Kristofer has traversed the ski industry in one fashion or another ranging from racing, coaching, ski patrolling, instructing and working for manufacturers.  His skills in backcountry skiing, avalanche safety, coaching and medical training compliment his passion for sharing the experience of skiing with others; whether a first time cat skier or a highly experienced skier, he has something to share. Kristofer is also a professional photographer, skiing being his favorite subject.

Pat Ahern

Ski Patrol and Master Guide

Pat’s love of skiing and snow has seen him patrolling slopes on some of the San Juan’s major ski resort’s since 1988. He’s held long term positions as the Ski Patrol Director for both Silverton Mountain and Tellruide Ski Resort in addition to being the Mountain Manager at Wolf Creek Ski Area. His wealth of knowledge and experience, combined with his humble persona, make him a major asset to the CMC team.
